The net of the solid

blue vessel paintings
2016, ongoing

In this series of paintings, Linn explores and imagines what the inside of her vessel sculptures may look like if their 3D was methodically deconstructed. Many geometric shapes, such as cubes and pyramids, can be opened, or unfolded on their angles to create a flat shape. This unfolded shape is referred to as “the net of the solid.” If a vessel was to be opened in such a manner it would take on a fan-like shape.
